I live in Groningen for 4 years now, but my hometown is Breda.spawn pisze:out of sheer curiosity:
I see here people from Amsterdam and Groningen. Howcome you support NAC?? there are teams in those cities, right ?
When I was a little boy I already went to NAC Breda every week at the Beatrixstraat (old stadium).
Once you support NAC Breda, you can't switch (I can't) to another club!
Suppose you move to Poznan, do you switch to the local club or do you still support Polonia?
This afternoon we beat Groningen with 1-2 so we are ready for a Spanish surprise!

Just got home...It was a good game, NAC had the most chances and pushed the Villareal players back. Unfortunatly, the ref was amazingly stupid. That Swedish piece a shit ruined ANY chance we had of winning this game.
the 1-2 for instance, was from a free kick. The ref pointed at his whistle, so Villareal had to wait for him to call the kick. But they shot before he blew the whistle, and he just walked away and called a goal. WTF!
Even before HT Villareal should have been with 10, but the pussy senja kalosh ref just didn't want to give a second yellow to some players. And then there was the pussy way of playing from the Spanish. As of the 50th minute, they were busy stretching the game and going to the ground for nothing. OMG I've never seen a ref do so much harm in one game....

First of all i want to say i had an great time in Warszawa (especially for you guys ) and loved your 'oldskool' stadium and atmosphere.Altze pisze:By the way, what happened to your old stadium at beatrixstraat? Was it demolished in 1996 in favour to residential buildings? As far as I could see on Google earth there were no signs of the stadium at this street. Looked great and i'm sure it was plenty of character (modern football sucks...)
The stadium is from 1940 and was an very old stadium and we did need to move forward just like the other clubs did to have more commercial possibilities. Plus the safety and rules weren't optimal at the beatrixstraat (riots like this: , supporters on the field, stadium in the middle of a neighborhood) , from 1998 all dutch stadiums had to be seated so they decided to move to the stadium we're in now.
Many supporters we're really sad to leave the stadium because since the seventies the 'avondje NAC' (evening NAC) was born and this was something new in the Netherlands, evening games with a fantastic and very wild atmosphere which made the club famous in the whole country (even Johan Cruijff talked about it on national television).
In the last game before moving there was a lot of flares (like always where), the B-Side caught fire but lucky enough there weren't injuries so the match could go on. See photo:
Since then we played at the Rat Verlegh Stadion, the old stadium has been broken down and build many buildings indeed. The first years the atmosphere was shitty and many people missed (and still miss) the Beatrixstraat and all the memories of it. Since a few years the atmosphere went better in the new stadium and you don't hear many people about it anymore, but still many have great memories on it.
For me personally i think we needed to move as club, other wise we probably never played you. But it was an beautiful 'oldskool' stadium where many of us got great memories and great times. To bad it's broken down... But can't blame the city for improving (in their eyes) the city.
2 movies where you sort of can see what it was like:
(great movie!)
(more like a documentary)
And on the movies at this page you can see how it was and how it's like now: http://www.martijnmureau.nl/index.php?o ... &Itemid=53
Thanks for teaching us the Polonia Corner by the way!
Apparantly, you have a special way of scoring a cornerkick, passing to someone close by and let him make the pass.
We used this technique against FC Groningen, which resulted in the 0-2. We are playing PSV right now, and I see that the players are still using this kick!
It's 0-1 by the way, but we are only 30 minutes away. Still, we are in the lead against PSV...

Greetings Polonia friends!
How's life? I saw this isn't your best season so far? Losing against the number last at home?
We have a great trip to Villareal with 1400 NAC Breda supporters:
However, our coach wasn't taking the match very seriously because we could never win there. We played with 5 or 6 B-team players and losing 6-1
We sang the whole match and getting applaud by Villareal fans after the match.
After that we're beating Heerenveen 2-0 and losing at Ajax 6-0!! Our worst match in a couple of years.
