Polonia News

Post autor: krol_olch » pn maja 10, 2004 21:13

I hearby establish a topic for short fresh news from our club for all non-Polish speakers.

The news of the day are:
- we are to be given 1mln PLN by the city of Warsaw which is going to make the construction of our new, covered (by a roof) 2000 people stand possible.
This is great news because the UEFA licence system makes it necessary for the ist division clubs to have at least 1000 seats under roof - we are going to have more than 2000. The society Stadion Polonia is also collecting money to cover the main stand (4700) and build some improvements.
If anyone wants to help - contact us - every euro/pound/danish crown counts ;)
- we now have a full-blown marketing specialist in the club which might mean the begining of a new era. Hope it does.

Obrazek
this is a pic of how it's gonna look.
it may not be very impressive but it is a big improvement - and the fans of FCM know how it feels to hava an old and disfunctional stadium and how great it is to finally see it change.

Well. I would suggest that next time somoene who does the project would use the better picture of the playfield. It does not look profi.

But the new grandstand will look profi, anyway :)

The scheme of the new stands is quite impressive (though i have to admit the field looks kind of used-up; maybe just a bad picture ).
Think despite the fact that UEFA demands 1000 roofed seats for 1st division clubs (didn't know that yet) i think the new stand could improve the atmosphere in your stadium since the roof will amplify the cheers by your supporters. I know what i am talking about since our new stands were opened a month ago and the difference between the now complete roofed stadium and our old "open" one is quite remarkable.

Good luck for your next match

Peter Ross (FCM) - As i remember Ikast FS had plenty european confrontations( vs Monaco or other French club in mid 90's). What about Midtjylland-it's quite "new" club in Denmark, isn't it? Any merge with Ikast FS? What about your clubs colours? I remind myself that Ikast played in yellow-blue, why is it black & red now? What about Ikast FS-do they have any team in lower division or just they dont exist anymore?

Andre- try to log in :) I thought that i saw your name among the registered users :) Nice to see what is happening in Duisburg, what about your connections with GMFC? Have you managed to do those scarfs? BTW I've got yesterday my Morton package and hope that one lady received Polonia stuff also(however some c**t at the post office cut the envelope ) ;)

About Polonia news- According to one of Daily Sportpapers KSP is interested in our ex-players Arkadiusz Bąk(he was on loan at Birmingham City once) and Piotr Dziewicki -both from Amica Wronki. 2 big signings(as for current financial situation) but it also seems that something is going in a proper direction at Konwiktorska. Of course if we could trust in this "daily sportspaper"-sometimes(?) daily shitpaper

In 1999 Ikast FS and Herning Fremad, 2 localrivals, got together. And now they are FC Midtjylland. I think the colours just is a choice :)
Ikast was yellow and blue, Herning was blue and white, so it have no connection !

Ikast FS has a ameteur team in the danish 4th division, it is called "danmarksserien". There they are a middleteam, Herning has also a team in that league, but Herning gets all the contracted players from FCM, when they not are on the team :( But Ikast is rated over Herning 8)

And yes, in 1991 (?) Ikast played against a french team in the UEFA cup, but they lost  I can´t remember which team it was, I was actually only 3 years at that moment

Sorry i forgot to login.
The scarfes are still in progress, we are currently thinking about their design but are somehow lacking good ideas. Therefor i will ask our Scottish friends whether they have some useful suggestions for the layout.

@ Peter Ross :
Indeed, a very nice stadium.

We are staying up, yes we're staying up!!!

After horrible run of straight defeats,we finally managed to earn 3 points.3 points ,that werent so easy, 1 st half was really frustrating and disturbing to watch(well...sometimes). Expect last two match reports(from games vs Wisla Krakow and Gornik Zabrze) on www.polonia.vis.pl , but first i need to get rid of this typical headache...

Cheers and many thanks to you, foreign fans, for support.

thanx everybody

Bobby - the thing You are supposed to get You will get as soon as I finish my exams :)

the match was a thriller - only by winning and hoping for Lukullus Świt to win or draw we could avoid the playoffs and stay.
We knew that Cracovia, our oldest friends, won their match in the second league and would be in the playoffs for sure.
We had a high attendance - 5,500 at least, as our players decided to buy all the tickets for the fan-stand - and everyone wanted to see Polonia in case it was the last game in the 1st division.
The match was full of Brasilians from Zabrze loosing their shoes, and fantastic, outstanding luck of our adversary's young goalkeeper who was able to deflect all the shots (21 in the whole match) up till 73 minute when our young, clubraised player Krzysztof Bąk, who came as a substitute a few minutes earlier, scored a fantastic header (from a long way away - 12-14 meters as I recall). After that the atmopsphere of horror changed into delight, and Polonia finaly started to play as they should have done all along - the second goal was scored by the winger Piotr Plewnia from the edge of the penalty area. And that was it. I spent the last ten minutes hanging on the fence to be able to jump on the pitch after the final whistle to get a shirt or at least a sock. The match in Nowy Dwor ended two minutes after our's so we had to wait in silence to hear the result - after the speaker announced a draw the whole public errupted with a cheer.
We sang and rejoiced for a while, and then some 1000 maybe more people decided to go and celebrate on the Old Town whch is 5 minutes away from our stadium.

And so - all of You guys will be able to see us in the Ekstraklasa next year - and we are supposed to fight for the cups this time ! :D

After three matches (rest of teams, without Groclin Dyskobolia, played four matches) Polonia is on 8 position with 6 points. We won two matches (POLONIA - Gornik Leczna 1:0 ; POLONIA - GKS Katowice 2:0) and lose one (Wisla Cracow - POLONIA 4:0).

Match with Dyskobolia will be play in October.

The nearest match - versus Wisla Plock.

Wisla Plock - POLONIA
11 September 2004
Plock, Poland

I hope you can undestand my short message about Polonia and Polish First League (Ekstraklasa).
