Weather is nice, about 27 degrees.

Our stands are full on thursday, there are at this moment still 2000 tickets available so it's gonna be sold out.
Normally we can have 17.000 people but the standing places are closed so it's 12.000 now.

After the match while we wait:

Finally got my pics and report finished:

All the pics together: http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Album=M6RQ8NSQ
I've also made clips, I will upoad those tonight.

Report:

Wednesday
14:10. arriving at NAC Breda stadium. The bus hasn't arrived, but enough crazy fans are at the scene. The first cans of beer are open.

15:10. bus is leaving the stadium, aboard: 48 NAC fans and over 400 cans of beer. A long trip to Warszawa is ahead of us. Everybody is trying to make the trip last a bit shorter. There is singing, beer, music, games etc.

20:15. Our first stop in Germany. A wrecked BMW makes 2 friends feel like pitbabes.

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-QBZQWIYW.jpg

Thursday, 0:30. Because of all the drinking, the mood in the bus is getting a bit unpleasent. Some people want to get some sleep, but others are to active or to drunk to let them.

1:15. We got our first puker. A dude in the back puked in the path, and the bus makes an early stop an hour away from the Polish border. Because the lights are turned on, everybody that was sleeping is awake again.

2:40. Welcome in Polska! We make a short stop just inches away from Germany. Poland smells like pinetrees. :)

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-BCGT6J4U.jpg

5:42. Our second stop in Poland. I've slept for maybe 2 hours and feel like I've been run over by the bus itself. Most people in the bus have slept for 3 hours or less. Some arguments, the puker and the uncomfortable seats made it almost impossible to sleep.

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-OO8EQ7LX.jpg

8:30. We are on a very long and boring road to Warszawa. It's a bumpy road with loads of traffic, and a view that doesn't change for hours. Long stretched farmfields with a house now and then. Everybody is bored to death. Is this Poland?

10:00. Wow, I see people! And houses! Thank god, we are in the world of the living. We are in Warszawa.

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-TGJYNAO3.jpg

10:30. There it is. What we travelled all those miles for. Impressive entrance. Almost royal. The police spotted us even before we reached the stadium.

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-NZ7EBBUY.jpg

11:00. We arrived at Fukier, a bar that should be closed, but the waitress (good looking girl by the way) wants to open after we ask her nicely a couple of times.

13:00. Me and a couple of other decide to make a small walk. Made some nice pictures of the center of Warszawa.

14:30. We got back to the Fukier. Police has arrived with some vehicles as well. Apparantly, our singing is disturbing a WW II ceremony a couple of blocks further. The police is making preparations to remove us from the square and bring us to the stadium. After a good talk between our security people and the Polish police, they agree to leave but only if we promise to keep it quiet.

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-DFIFT7FH.jpg

18:00. I've seen enough of the Fukier. And their crappy service for that matter. We start walking back to the stadium. The police follows our every move.

18:15. Like a conga line, me and some 20 others are escorted by the Polish police. The rest stays at the Fukier. It's INSANE! Police cars everywhere, cops with sticks and even water cannons. There is no threat at all. We see some Polonia fans on our way, which greet us with a big yell. We answer with the same big yell. No harm done.

18:25. The last couple of metres the road is filled with cops, guard dogs, you name it. I've not seen this kind of police cover in my life.

http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-F8CMIAUB.jpg

19:30. The stadium is filling.

20:00. Kick-off. Polonia fans are raising a very nice banner with a Polish soldier on it. In the away-end, we were speculating if the soldier was supposed to be general Maczek. Was it or was it not?

20:30. Wow. These Polonia fans are sick! They just don't know when to give up. We try to outdo them, but it's impossible.

21:50. Everybody is climbing in the fences. The players throw their shirts at us. A big party erupts in the away stand. We won, but don't ask how. Polonia was better, especially in the first 45 minutes.

22:05. The stadium is empty, but scary police keep us inside. The Polonia players make a closing run, and we greet them.

23:00. Standing in the middle of a whole army of Polish musquitos, the police keeps us near the stadium till the bus arrives. We are beaten, everybody wants to sleep.

Friday, 5:00. It was a quiet night. I still haven't slept much, but at least more than on the way to Poland. We make a long stop to fresh up, eat and drink a lot of coffee. We are still in Poland.

6:00. We drive into Germany, instantly getting in a traffic jam. A truck driver probably fell asleep, because a truck is standing on the side of the road, with grass and mudd all over the place.

15:00. Thank god, we made it. The bus smells like someone has died there, but we are home. What a trip. Despite everything, is was worth it. What an amazing atmosphere, what a great club. Can't wait for the home game.

Questions:

Was the soldier on the banner Maczek or not?

What does this sign mean: http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-HHPTJ6PA.jpg

What does Pzu Pomoc mean? We saw a sign in the middle of nowhere saying that.

I've got a scarf showing Polonia and NAC, made for this match. Was this sold at the home stands as well? Does anybody have one spare of this scarf? A friend of me really wants one. He is willing to pay for it of course.

See you all Thursday! 8) 8) 8)

Definitely not. It had nothing to do with general Maczek. It was a picture of this statue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma%C5%82y_Powstaniec , a most widlely known monument of Warsaw Uprising. Actually it's a child soldier with a gun and a nazi helmet marked with a white and red scarf. You should have seen in while walking in the Old Town area.
It says: thank you, have a nice trip.
What does Pzu Pomoc mean? We saw a sign in the middle of nowhere saying that.
It's a health insurance company.

Yes, these were beeing sold on our stand too, but I haven't seen any because all have been already sold half an hour before the game. I was told that they are going to have some more of these scarfs on the next match (next Sunday). If your friend wants this scarf badly, we can think of sending it by mail, or maybe you should just contact the manufacturers if they are willing to send their stuff abroad: http://www.ludziezestoiska.pl/. However I do not guarentee a quick response from these guys or any response at all. :)

Owwww, good to know that. I haven't seen the statue actually, that would made it more clearly at the start of the match.

It looks nice anyway.

Our game was close to 1 august (on our stadium), so the setting was connected with the 65th anniversary of rising.

As for August 1st: I read everywhere the Warsaw Uprising Museum is a must see, but we didn't have the time unfortunately. At the WU monument, there was a sort of concert as well, we noticed when we walked from Old Town to your stadium.

Being born, raised, and still living in Amsterdam, I can´t tell you much about clubs. Most famous bars to go for NAC fans are probably `t Hoekse´ which is only 200 metres away from the stadium, and ´Café Beatrix´ which is underneath the stadium. You can also come to the ´supportershome´, which is also at the stadium.

Cheap beer is hard to find, especially to Polish standards. Maybe you are better off buying a sixpack of Breda Lager at the supermarket. :P (that´s right, we got our own hometown beer)

Don't tell me you are all coming to smoke weed...Damn I hate tourists.

Because of the location (near Belgium border) there are a LOT of coffeeshops, in the city center I believe there are even more than in Amsterdam. (per km2).

Clips are online as well: http://www.youtube.com/user/HandjesBreda

Cheap beer isn't everything ;) I'm curious what can we expect if we will go to the `t Hoekse´ or ´Café Beatrix´ before/after the game? Is it better to avoid such confrontation? I must say that I really want to drink some beers with NAC supporters :choragiewka: But still, I want to get back to Warsaw in one piece :D

It's hard to tell. Also, I can't say if the police will approve of your going about in Breda. With the away match, there were NAC fans like they are supposed to be. I've never felt any dislike from the Polonia fans, and that's the key I think. When you respect us, we respect you. I don't think that there are NAC fans that want to get in a fight with you, unless you guys make that happen.

Second thing is, there are rumours that Ado The Hague idiots with their Legia buttbuddies are coming to Breda to fight with us, hoping that Polonia fans will join in causing a major 2 clubs against 2 clubs fight. If the police takes this seriously, which I'm guessing, it could be hard for you to get in a bar without problems.

't Hoekske is a very old bar, the real hometown of NAC fans. It might be better to only got there when you are invited by NAC fans. The Beatrix wouldn't be a problem, when we play against Sparta Rotterdam (which is kind of our own Korona friendsclub) they come there as well.
You must have had a lot of laugh if you really thought that this flag was a picture of Maczek. Shame on you! Wasn't it obvious that this is actually a child?
I know it didn't seem logical, but we just didn't know what it was and hoped it was made especially for us. Would be very cool though. A NAC fan has to dream

About a place to sleep: my offer to sleep with me still stands. I can have 3 or 4 people over. Problem is of course that I live in Amsterdam.

the flag was made special for that game, but not specially for you, sorry. Btw. you seem to be very positive about the whole trip, but then you were already positive about it before the game. Can you tell what were the impressions of the "average" Breda fan? I would assume that most of you were kind of expecting a visit at the "Wild East" inhabited by the families of Polish guest-workers and with dogs barking with their asses (polar bears if it were winter). What was the general "talk" on your stand?

And why on Earth did you chose to hang out at Fukier, of all places?

Most NAC fans where busy annoying Polish girls by asking them to take a picture with them. Beer was cheap, that was also a plus for most.

After the match, many were supprised, like me, that you made so much noise. I heard nothing but respect for you. 1 thing I didn't like, some people sang 'A stand full of retards' during the match. It's a song often used, but I didn't find it aprropiate at this match. So I didn't sang along. I heard somebody next to me say he found that not cool as well.

The Fukier...OMG what a shit bar. The waiters mess up everything, and the food is expensive. I think we were ripped off big time there. One of the reasons why I decided at 12 o'clock, that I wasn't gonna order anything there. We got our food at the Subway and drank beer on a terrace on the main square, about 300 metres further.

You are welcome in Breda.
Before the match: We have 2 places with a lot of pubs with terraces, The grote markt (big market) and the havermarkt (oatsmarket). I think there are a lot of people sitting there but not much football fans. You can sit and drink there without problems. Our hooligans will not take action against you because you are not an enemy, no problem.

After the match: At those same markets, look for a pub where you think it's nice. Thursdaynight is normally a good night, maybe it's not that busy now because of the holiday in Holland (no students).

I think it's hard to find a cheap place to sleep. Maybe you have to try a hotel near Breda (like in Etten-Leur, Roosendaal or Oosterhout).

For those who wants to visit the training of Polonia: Wednesday 20.00 inside the stadium, B-side is open for public.
